Sustainability and Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges, Perspectives from Japan and Germany

Feb 12, 2016 | 09:30 AM - 07:30 PM

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an integrated part of the strategies and activities of corporations in Germany and Japan and other countries. In contrast to traditional philanthropic activities or cooperation with local communities in the context of corporate citizenship, CSR instruments integrate the core economic activities of firms with environmental and social standards. Thus, firms strive to demonstrate their commitment to make sustainable contributions to society and to raise trust in corporate activities.

This symposium intends to analyse and discuss how private actors can contribute to development and the Global Sustainability Goals of the United Nations. The conference will be organized in two sessions: Session one addresses issues of global governance, development and cooperation between public and private actors. Session two analyses ways in which sustainability goals can be implemented in corporate strategies. Speakers will come from firms and academia, Japan, Germany and other EU countries.

The conference will be held in English.

For participation please register with the JDZB until 9 February 2016!
