TJ Pempel: The Economic-Security Nexus in Northeast Asia

TJ Pempel will give a public lecture on Asian Security policy and regionalism within the context of the second Start-off Conference of the Graduate School of East Asian Studies (GEAS), which marks the beginning of the new semester and the official reception of the II Cohort of doctoral students this year. T. J. Pempel is Jack M. Forcey Professor of Political Science in UC Berkeley’s Department of Political Science. His main research focus are comparative politics, political economy and Asian regionalism, in particular from the Japanese perspective. Among his recent publications are Security Cooperation in Northeast Asia (Routledge, 2012) and Asian Responses to the Global Financial Crisis: The Impact of Regionalism and the Role of the G-20 (co-edited with Jehoon Park and Geng Xiao, Cheltenham: Edward Elgar, 2012).

Im Rahmen der Semesterauftaktkonferenz und der Begrüßung der II. Kohorte der Graduate School of East Asian Studies (GEAS) wird TJ Pempel einen öffentlichen Vortrag über Sicherheitspolitik und Regionalismus in Ostasien geben. T. J. Pempel ist Jack M. Forcey Professor of Political Science an Institut für Politikwissenschaften der UC Berkeley, California. Er forscht über vergleichende Politik, politische Ökonomie und asiatischen Regionalismus mit Fokus auf Japan. Seine neuesten Publikationen sind Security Cooperation in Northeast Asia (Routledge, 2012) und der mit Jehoon Park und Geng Xiao herausgegebene Sammelband Asian Responses to the Global Financial Crisis: The Impact of Regionalism and the Role of the G-20 (Cheltenham: Edward Elgar, 2012).
