New Visiting Professor: Junhua Zhang (SJTU)

GEAS and the Institute for Chinese Studies welcome our new Visiting Professor Junhua Zhang, who will be staying with us from April 2017 to March 2018.
Zhang is currently Professor of Political Science at the School of International and Public Affairs of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the executive director of the Centre for Contemporary Sino-Israel Studies (CCSIS - in establishment). Dr. Zhang received his PhD in philosophy from the J.W.Goethe-University in Germany and has been a researcher at Freie Universität Berlin and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin for several years. He has also served as a visiting professor at several universities around the world, including the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, the University of Moscow, and the Institut Européen des Hautes Etudes Internationales. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Advisory Board and guest professor of the Donube University Krems in Austria.
His research fields are China’s political system, international politics with focus on security policy and international political economy and social memory. His recently published books are: Participatory Budgeting in Asia and Europe - Key Challenges of Participation (with Rudolf Traub-Merz, ed.) 2012,Houndmills, Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan; Perspectives of the Labour Contract Law in China (with Xu Xiaohong), 2010.
