GEAS was selected again by the DAAD to nominate and host up to 4 international PhD students in 2019 and 2020 (two each year).
International applicants who have not been living in Germany for more than 15 months can apply. At the time of the application, the last final exam (Master Degree) should have taken place no longer than six years ago. If you plan a field study, please also submit a short work plan and schedule about the field trip (when, where, how long).
Candidates are selected in a multi-step process by GEAS and DAAD. The final decisions are made by the DAAD.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee of PIs at GEAS. Based on the excellence of their applications, candidates will be selected for a nomination to the final decision process of DAAD.
The applicants who have been selected for a scholarship by a graduate school or a graduate programme must further submit a completed application form with all supporting documents via the DAAD-portal Please note that each DAAD scholarship in this programme comprises funding for up to three years. Extension to a fourth year will be possible only in exceptional and very well founded cases.
Successful applicants will be offered a full PhD scholarship, financed by the GSSP programme of the DAAD. The DAAD offers monthly grants of about € 1.200 including health and liability insurance, as well as travel and research allowances.
