Most of the federal states have issued regulations for the promotion of young academics and artists - in Berlin: Elsa-Neumann fellowships. They provide for support for doctoral preparation abroad. Within this framework, the DAAD can contribute to the promotion with an additional scholarship.

The DAAD can grant Elsa-Neumann fellowship holders who require a stay abroad of at least 30 days to carry out their work project within the framework of their scholarship an additional scholarship for this period (funding period of up to 12 months).
